Uploading Files To Symas Support
Learn how to easily upload files to Symas Support for efficient troubleshooting and assistance with your support requests.
If you have been requested by Symas support to provide files to your customer upload location (SaveHere directory), follow these steps.
Connection credentials for your account will either be sent to the email on file or posted to your support ticket. Here are the settings you will need to connect to your SaveHere directory:
- Your user name
- Your password
- File protocols: SFTP or SCP
- Host name: crwth.ext.symas.net
- Port: 22
There are many programs that perform file transfer, and we recommend installing either WinSCP (Windows only), FileZilla, or Cyberduck. Below are example instructions for Filezilla.
If you are asked to upload the slapd.conf file, the default location is in /opt/symas/etc/openldap/. You may need to download that file to the location that your file transfer program is installed on.
If you are asked to upload an OpenLDAP log file, the default location is in /var/log/openldap/. You may need to download that file to the location that your file transfer program is installed on.
Open FileZilla. Click on the Site Manager icon:

Use the credentials sent to you to fill in the file transfer modal dialogue box, then click the Connect button:

You may see another modal dialogue box informing you that FileZilla has encountered an unknown host key. Verify that the host name is crwth.ext.symas.net and the port number is 22. If so, click the checkbox next to “Alway trust this host, add this key to the cache” option. Then click OK.

Once connected and able to access the SaveHere directory, upload any requested files.
